you might recognize the album artwork from a feature i put together with paris-based artist andrea many moons ago — now the producer teams up with fellow parisian julia losfelt on this dreamy number called “early bird.”
julia losfelt first hit my radar with her kid cudi cover from a while back (also produced by andrea, in collaboration with dream koala). it turns out, losfelt’s covers are her not-so-secret weapon, if her follow up covers of sade’s “flow” and mount kimbie’s “you took your time” are any indication. just don’t pigeonhole her as a cover artist. her original compositions take on deep, quixotic production and curling, chimerical vocal elements that are like something out of a dream. her quiet storm EP, released under her own moose records, is a five-track wonder that boasts remixes from the likes of bear//face and dream koala.
“early bird” is equally airy, but grounded in andrea’s skittering beats and favour for pitched down vocals. taken from andrea’s cruising EP, which also features input from slow magic, sun glitters, and rejjie snow.
